Our "Stabilizer Basics"© training DVD is in production. It's been a long time in coming but is being well received.
Our instructors are Cody Deegan (famous for do-it-yourself stabilizer plans), and Bret Allen SOC (20 year Steadicam Owner/Operator).
Charles King from the Homebuilt Stabilizer Board Forum has done a professional review which can be found here:

Just watched the Stabilizer Basics video.
Extremely helpful! You can read about these things, look at photos, etc...but it makes a huge difference to see them in action. Now what I read here (DvInfo.net) about techniques will make a lot more sense.
For anyone who's new to this stuff, I give it 5 stars.

Hello Terry. I received the DVD. It's awesome! Thank you very much.
Very Informational for a beginner like me. Thanks again. Carlos Lozano.

Thanks Terry?
I received your DVD, and like it a lot! Good points, tips, and
practice techniques. I must admit that after watching your DVD I've already
redesigned some of my system. This is such a dynamic field that I'm
sure I will be forever inspecting, modifying, and improving my system for
years to come.
Thanks again!

Hi Terry,
Just to let you know I have received the DVD in today's post, many thanks. I also appreciate the e-mails you've sent me keeping me informed of progress, and so on.
I've watched the DVD - it's great! I'm very impressed with the Indicam rig (especially the low mode function). I enjoyed the humour. I thought the topics covered were very broad, making it a comprehensive training tool. As a beginner, I would have liked to see a little more on balancing a rig, but accept that each brand of stabilizer will be slightly different. I loved the tips like holding the rig horizontally with one finger and checking which way it rolls.....I need to build myself a balancing pole to assist me in balancing the rig!
I am confident that with lots of practice and using the techniques you suggest in the video I can improve my operating dramatically. I was very impressed with the accuracy of framing in the footage e.g. moving towards and away from the tennis ball on the pole!
Kind regards,
Andy.

By the way, we watched the Stabilizer Basics DVD today and found it very useful and educational (and funny)! I am sure we'll watch it many times and it will help us to achieve usable shots a lot sooner, it is a really valuable tool. Those tips like the one in your email below about using a shorter drop time in the wind are sure to save so much time and frustration by eliminating the need to work everything out by trial and error.

Sorry for not posting sooner. I got my disc on Friday and was able to go through it twice over the weekend. The disc is great for a neophyte like myself, especially the practice techniques and exercises. Too bad I didn't have any "Alien acid blood" for the cup practice. All kidding aside I wish I had this disc when I first completed my rig. It would have saved me hours of trial and error learning to fly the rig.

Well, I just saw the bloopers Terry added to the DVD and I must say I am glad he did add them at the end of the DVD. Cody is just too funny guys. The guy is too crazy. Really worth the purchase of the DVD. If you don't have. Go get it or sign up to get it one.

I received my DVD today and watched it. I highly recommend it to everyone--new or experienced. I learned a few new things and remembered some old ones. The presentation is clear and concise, featuring experienced operators. Cody shares some tricks and makes for "Blooper" heaven. Well worth the time and money. Could have been a little longer and that would not have bothered me.

The DVD is good, by the way. Almost minimalist...I'm a guy who tends
to over-talk, and the DVD if anything errors on the other side...very
clear, very simple, very....uh....California.
